Media files are nowadays very used by most people. Image files, music, videos, these can all be played using a large number of players and even media devices. Still, because of the large amount of formats available, most software media players are not compatible with all of them and can generally play only a certain type of media files, for example, only music or only videos. Still, there are some applications that manage to play both music and videos. One such application is Snow Player.

It's a simple Windows program which doesn't even need installing, as it can run by double clicking on the program's executable file. Not having an installer means that you can carry the program on a USB memory stick and run it on any computer, even older ones, as the system requirements are extremely low.

When running the program, the user will be displayed a nice graphical interface that features all the controls you would expect from a media player. But the true functionality of this application can be accessed by right clicking on its interface and opening the context menu. Using this large menu, you can add more media files at the same time into the program's interface and you can even add playlist files created with other media players.

The interface supports various skins and even though there is only one available at first, more skins can be downloaded from the producer's website. Besides playing a wide range of media files, Snow Player can also play online radio streams and even includes a mini web browser, which allows one to search for radio stations from all around the world. Furthermore, songs can have their lyrics looked up in a large database and even movies can have certain information about them displayed in the interface, by searching the IMDB website.

Snow Player supports numerous languages and offers the possibility to be translated by the user in any desired language.

Pros:
It can play a wide range of media files, including images, videos and music files. Besides that, it's compatible with playlist files created by other media players. What's more, it can play radio streams from all around the world and includes a mini browser for searching for radio stations. Moreover, the program can look for lyrics and movie information on the web.

Cons:
The large context menu of the program can be confusing at first.

Snow Player can play almost any media file, including images, videos and music, all in a friendly and nice looking interface that supports various skins.
